Keisen, Tomita, 1879-1936

Born in Fukuoka; lived in Kyoto. Given name Shingoro. Studied Shijo-style painting with Tsuji Kako; also studied Heian Buddhist painting and nanga. Exhibited paintings with Saiko Nihon Bijutsuin in 1915; became member in 1916. Also exhibited at Teiten and Bunten.** Taken in whole, or in part, with permission from: Merritt, Helen and Nanako Yamada. Guide to Modern Japanese Woodblock Prints: 1900-1975.
