Gakusui, Ide, 1899-1982

Born in Yamanashi prefecture. Studied Japanese-style painting with Yamanouchi Tamon and Araki Kanpo. Lived in China 1929-1946. After 1949 he concentrated on moku-hanga. Watanabe Shozaburo published his bird and flower prints, especially pictures of large cranes.** Taken in whole, or in part, with permission from: Merritt, Helen and Nanako Yamada.
