Born and worked in Kyoto. Given name Usaburo. Studied with father-in-law Takeuchi Seiho. Graduated in 1899 from Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts. Became head of Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting. Exhibited in Teiten, Bunten, and Inten. Member of Imperial Art Academy and Imperial Household Art Committee.
